Thought the E-E-A-T purge would only hit mom-and-pop bloggers, but How To Win’s 70 % wipeout proves Google just turned the screws on everyone. Makes you wonder who still trusts ‘named-author’ bios after that rollout.
Up one month, negative carryover the next.

Ah, the named-author rollout didn’t just clip mom-and-pops—it gut-shot even the heavy hitters because Google treated "expert" as a binary switch. How To Win’s 70 % drop wasn’t collateral damage; it was a deliberate disqualification. Now the real question isn’t whether E-E-A-T is dead—it’s whether you were ever playing in a division where expertise actually mattered to rankings or if you were just coasting on brand name. The mid-tier affiliate blogs that vanished overnight weren’t collateral. They were targeted because their backlinks relied on thin, keyword-stuffed bios that never passed the sniff test for real domain authority. The named-author update didn’t just lower the bar; it lit the old ones on fire.

yeah well the named-author update was always a game of musical chairs for anyone who fancied themselves an ‘expert’ without the paperwork to back it up. i launched a couple of mid-tier brands back in the old curaçao no-kyc days and the first thing we did—long before any named-author nonsense—was put every affiliate manager on the rev-share deck with a proper MID, rolling reserve clause and a KYC-first funnel so the traffic we bought wasn’t just FTD bait that bled into chargebacks next month. that kind of backend muscle isn’t some vanity metric; it’s what actually gives a site a reason to exist in google’s eyes beyond “here’s another keyword-stuffed blog with a guy who used to work at bet365 in 2014”. when the new lot started chasing ‘named-author bios’ for backlinks, they forgot the simple truth: if the bios don’t reflect real transactional expertise—actual drops, chargeback rates, player lifetimes—then the links are noise anyway. google didn’t just lower the bar, they re-wrote the rulebook so the mid-tier blogs that relied on thin glossaries of “here’s how rtp works” got iced while the ones with actual granular casino data (think audited ggr breakdowns by jurisdiction) quietly kept their seats at the table. and don’t even get me started on the ai overviews eating clicks. those things train on the exact thin keyword soup the mid-tier blogs spewed for years. once google realised 90 % of those ‘best payout casinos’ pages were written by interns in manila with a stopwatch and a spreadsheet copied from wikipedia, they handed the task to an llm and called it progress. the new lot never dealt with that—they think “seo” means typing “casino review” into a prompt and watching adwords prices drop. real seo is fixing the plumbing so your reviews are backed by real financial flows, not just sentiment.
Been offshore since Curacao was cheap.

Funny how everyone’s crying about E-E-A-T when half of them were getting their "expert" bios from guys who wrote one article about RTP in 2018 and then ghosted the site for a better-paying affiliate gig. Of course Google flushed that sewage downstream—name one mid-tier blog that actually *scaled* with proper transactional data instead of relying on "in-house experts" who couldn’t even tell you the difference between GGR and NGR if you woke them up at 3 AM with a KYC breach. PaulAffiliate hits the nail on the head: if your "authority" is built on thin bios and keyword rot, you weren’t winning with E-E-A-T, you were just borrowing a costume from the drama school down the road. 🤡 And now the costumes don’t fit anymore—surprise!

Remember that time we all thought we were playing 4D chess while google was actually running a poker game with a marked deck? named-author bios were never the finish line—they were just the price of the ticket to sit at the table. sure, How To Win got their hand slapped for overplaying their "expert" card, but that’s not the real story here. the real story is how half the mid-tier blogs never even sat down with a deck of cards in the first place; they just stacked their bets on the same keyword hunch every month and wondered why the house always won. take a look at those "best payout casinos" pages that vanished overnight—most of them weren’t built on expertise, they were built on adwords bids and a prayer. and when ai overviews rolled up like a dealer with a fresh shoe, it didn’t just take the clicks—it exposed the whole charade. the mid-tier blogs didn’t lose because google changed the rules; they lost because they never played by anything but their own made-up scorecard.

Heard a solo affiliate last week muttering into his third espresso that if Google wanted real E-E-A-T, it should try auditing a MID license instead of counting commas in an author bio.

@DannyOffshore nah but literally, and I don’t say this lightly cos I’m usually the one banging on about how a clean stack and KYC funnels are the only currency that ever mattered, but he’s not wrong — Google’s entire E-E-A-T theatre just amounted to a really expensive game of spot-the-comma while real due diligence lived three clicks deeper in the footer where it belongs. 🤦‍♂️ I mean, we moved our whole review stack behind a proper rev-share and MID audit waaaay before March’s update and suddenly every link we earn passes the sniff test because the traffic isn’t FTD vapour; it’s actual depositing players whose KYC docs live in our auditor’s cloud. So when some intern in Manila pumps out another “top 10 casinos” fluff piece relying on Wikipedia RTP rounded to two decimals, Google’s AI just gives it the middle finger and rewrites the answer from the licensed operator’s latest GGR feed instead. Crazy world, innit? If Google really wanted E-E-A-T alive they’d audit the MID licences of the sites crawling for those backlinks and be done with the bio theatre. Cos at the end of the day, your licence number doesn’t lie and neither do the chargeback rates.
Uptime speaks louder than sales decks.

@DannyOffshore wait no… auditing a MID isn’t the finish line either though, right? Like, sure, it proves you’re not a shell with a fake certificate—but what about the sites that still launder FTD traffic through dodgy rev-shares just to hit the MID minimum? Google could wave a magical wand and check every licence, but if the economic plumbing behind the site is still broken… wouldn’t the AI just route around them again? 😬

Wait—so the mid-tier blogs that got wiped weren't collateral, they were sitting at a table where the dealer already stacked the deck with 'real E-E-A-T' stamp? And the "experts" who wrote 200-word bios in 2018 are now ghosts in a spreadsheet that never smelled like KYC fees or rolling reserves? 😭 But here’s what gnaws at me: if AI Overviews is eating clicks because it trains on the same thin keyword soup, then what’s left when every mid-tier blog is gone? Are we left with nothing but the top 5 casino groups paying Wix to reprint their audited GGR reports as "expert content"?

@GraceLoves nah but literally, who even *needed* an "expert" bio when your KYC funnel was squeaky clean and your players were actually depositing for real? 😂 Like, we junked the whole theatre two years back—stack’s still chugging along while half the mid-tier blogs are crying into their 404 pages. Half of ‘em never even looked at a GGR feed; they just borrowed a boilerplate and hoped Google wouldn’t notice the smell. And surprise—Google *did*.
